- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Descurainia nelsonii is a subspecies of D. pinnata given species status by Al-Shehbaz and Godson in 2010. There are ten collections from the west side of the Valley, for instance from near Coller SWA in Mineral Co, or Alamosa canyon in Conejos Co. There is only one record from the east side of the Valley, near Zapata Falls in Alamosa Co. Older vouchers of "D. pinnata," of course, may be D. nelsonii. The Watershed locations lie on the southeast corner of the USA distribution, which covers all states W of the Great Plains except for New Mexico.
