- After Boechera stricta, Boechera fendleri has been one of the most commonly collected of Boechera in the Watersjed, from all mountain ranges. Among Watershed watercresses, B. fendleri is distinguished by sepals with sparse hairs, stem leaves with auriculate bases (although the ears may be minute), glabrous and pendant fruit, basal leaves with simple and stalked trichomes (hairs), and a basal rosette of leaves with lateral inflorescences. B. fendleri, or its hybrids (e.g., B. fendleri x spatifolia x texana), occur in the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico down to the Mexico border and on east to the Big Bend country of Texas. Its USA distribution is most of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, with bits of southeast Nevada and west Texas. For more photographs and comment, click "yes" in the Annotation field below.
