- NEED IN SITU PHOTO. There are only five collections named Boechera divaricarpa widely dispersed on the west side of the Valley: Del Norte (Rio Grande Co, 1935), Wason Ranch (Mineral Co, 1939), 3 miles W of Creede (Mineral Co, 1939), Conejos River (Conejos Co, 1952), E of Los Pinos pass (Saguache Co, 1998). Note that the more restricted treatment by Al-Shebhaz (FNA) probably would not apply the name Boechera divaricarpa to these plants, since the FNA species by that name is confined to sexual triploid populations containing genomes of B. retrofracta, B. sparsiflora, and B. stricta—a combination not found in Colorado. These Watershed plants may be B. grahamii, or may be something else. But the disagreement among experts over the distinction between B. divaricarpa and B. grahamii remains. FNA and Ackerfield (2022) do not put B. divaricarpa in Colorado. BONAP show it in many western and central counties of Colorado, including Saguache, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Conejos. POWO accepts both species and shows both occurring in Colorado. It is worthy of note that Ramaley and Johnson found a "B. divaricarpa" in Del Norte, whereas Haswell [2019, 2021] found a "B. grahamii" there. BONAP and POWO show the species scattered through all the Western states except Arizona and New Mexico. The putative Watershed locations lie at the southeastern corner of this distribution.
