- So far there is only one location for American yellowrocket in the Watershed, a steep rocky embankment above Hwy 160 just to the east of Wolf Creek Pass. The plant occurs also on the west side of the pass by Hwy 160, and it has been recorded, usually in disturbed soil, elsewhere from the San Juan drainage. Of the four species of Barbarea in the USA, S. orthoceras is the only native, found in all states west of the Great Plains and in some counties around the Great Lakes. There are New Mexico records from Taos, Santa Fe, and Otero counties—the last being the location farthest south in the Rio Grande drainage.
