- There are only two herbarium vouchers of European alyssum from the Watershed: by Hwy 285 2.4 miles north of Antonito (Conejos Co, 1986) and just north of Wason Ranch south of Creede (Mineral Co, 1985). Recent photorecords show Allyssum simplex also by a side street in Del Norte (2015), in a vacant lot in South Fork (2019), and by CR 614 north of South Fork (2021). These occurrences would add Rio Grande to counties shown by Ackerfield (2022) and BONAP (2022). The thin record likely belies the growing presence of the species all around the Valley. Alyssum simplex prefers disturbed areas along roadsides and within town limits. BONAP shows scattered locations in all states west of the Great Plains.
