- Comments
- In the Watershed popcorn flower is common on edges of rivers, creeks, lakes, reservoirs, and ponds—but not yet collected in the Cristos, northern or southern. In the USA, Plagiobothrys hispidulus is distributed in all states west of the Great Plains. Note that experts do not agree about the relationship between P. hispidulus and P. scouleri. BONAP locates P. scouleri only in the Pacific Northwest. Allred et al. (2020) argue that nutlet variation discourages separation of Plagiobothrys scouleri var. hispidulus from P. scouleri. However defined, the species extends down the Rio Grande drainage only as far as Sandoval Co, New Mexico.
