- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Western stoneseed has six records from the Watershed (1975-2003), all on the west side except for an Alamosa Co collection, which was by railroad tracks (1975). The others were found along roads. Lithospermum ruderale, despite its name, is a native plant of open spaces in woods, that sometimes takes advantage of disturbed ground. Its USA distribution is all western states (but not the Pacific coast) except for Arizona. Its one New Mexico location is in Colfax Co, on the border with Colorado. That and the Watershed locations lie at the southeast corner of the USA range.
