- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Of European stickweed, there is only one record, from 1971 with location described only as Hinsdale Co and “along Hwy 149," which could or could not be within the Watershed. On iNaturalist there are two photographs dated 22 Sept 2022 of a plant beside a country road east of Saguache that looks like L. squarrosa, but the nutlets are not in enough focus to be sure (Saquache Co, iNaturalist #136336256). This exotic has spread across the northern half of the USA, with isolated locations in all the other states except for Oklahoma, Texas, and the Deep South. In New Mexico, Allred et al. (2020) say it is wide spread but uncommon, and show it in the Rio Grande drainage only in Rio Arriba, Taos, and Otero counties. It is not known farther south along the drainage.
