- Fendler's catseye is most common Cryptantha in the Watershed, found in xeric Basin and foothill habitats, and sometimes on disturbed ground such as drive way, road side, or railroad right of way. In the USA, the plant is present in all states west of the Great Plains as well as western North and South Dakota. Cryptantha fendleri follows the Rio Grande drainage halfway down New Mexico but no farther.
