- Comments
- Speckled alder is a common tree on both sides of the Valley, often riparian—following rivers and creeks, once down even into the Basin (in Ramalay’s 1931 collection on La Jara Creek near La Jara). The USA distribution of Alnus incana is disjunct: west of the Great Plains and the New England/Great Lakes regions. The tree follows the Rio Grande drainage two thirds of the way into New Mexico.
