- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For purple salsify the Watershed has only one record, Crestone, Saguache Co (Ramaley and Johnson, 1935). Judging from the photograph of the specimen, it may be Tragopogon dubius or a hybrid between T. porrifolius and T. dubius. This exotic has a scattered presence in most USA states. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico in Texas to the Big Bend country—a distribution similar to T. pratensis.
