- For Navajo tea there have been six Watershed collections from 1898 to 1937: "plains about Antonito" (Conejos Co, 1989), Alamosa Creek near Capulin (Conejos Co, 1935), Monte Vista (Rio Grande Co, 1937, 1939), "along roadside" (Rio Grande Co, 1939). The Watershed habitat of Thelesperma subnudum seems to be level, dry soil. The 1937 record from Monte Vista came from a “ditch bank.” So the 2015 and 2024 photorecords of the species from the Elephant Rocks north of Del Norte (Rio Grande Co) would be the first from the Watershedd in some 75 years. The USA distribution of the species covers the Rocky Mountains and the intermountain regions of Arizona, Utah, and southern Nevada. The farthest south in the Rio Grande drainage may be Sandoval Co, New Mexico. For more photos and comment, see iNaturalist observation #222849520, or click "yes" in the Annotation field below.
