- Spineless horsebrush is a common member of Watershed sagebrush and pinyon-juniper communities, all around the valley—although Sharples (2017) says it is "rare in low, dry areas" of the South San Juans of Conejos and Archuleta counties. It is a mountain and Great Basin plant of all Western USA states, and follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to Doña Ana Co, but no farther down stream.
