- There is only one voucher of Symphyotrichum porteri from the Watershed and it is mislabeled. This is the 1971 record from “Buckthorn Creek Ca. 8 mi NW Massonville” in "Conejos Co." The observation actually is from Buckhorn Creek in Latimer Co. So the Home Lake phoatorecord (2015) would be the unique occurrence of the species in the Watershed, and would add Rio Grande to the counties indicated in Ackerfield (2022) and BONAP (2022). Symphyotrichum porteri is chiefly an east-slope Rockies flower of Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. The occurrences in New Mexico lie in the Canadian River drainage, which flows into the Arkansas River, not the Rio Grande. So the single Watershed location would be the only on record from the entire Rio Grande drainage.
