- For Symphyotrichum ericoides there are only five voucher locations in the Watershed: Mirage (11 miles SSE of Villa Grove, Saguache Co); Baca NWR (Saguache Co); Forbes Park (Costilla Co); “Blanca” (probably the town, Costilla Co); and 4 miles E of Antonito (Conejos Co). The 2024 photorecord adds a sixth record, also from Conejos Co. The species is common and wide spread in the Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, and Midwest, with scattered, possibly adventive, locations in the East. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to Val Verde Co, Texas (just east of the Big Bend country). Note that the Watershed distribution of S. ericoides overlaps with S. falcatum, from which S. ericoides is not easy to distinguish. FNA says that compared to S. falcatum, S. ericoides "has smaller heads with fewer florets in denser arrays."
