- For Symphyotrichum ciliatus the Watershed has only 8 vouchers records, typically found growing in alkaline substrate, in both the Upper and Lower Basins. The species does extend into the foothills, as near Mogotes (Conejos Co, 1993). In New Mexico, where is it present in the Rio Grande drainage to Otero Co (but has been recorded no farther down stream), this rayless aster is found in wet "brush and woodlands, floodplains, lake edges" (Allred et al. 2020). Its USA distribution roughly occupies eastern Arizona, Utah, and the Rocky Mountains up to the Canadian border, with scattered locations in the upper Plains, Great Lakes, and New England.
