- Sticky goldenrod is the most commonly collected Solidago in the mountains from both sides of the Valley. There are no collections from the Culebras, but many collections from the Cristos in New Mexico. The USA distribution centers around Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and New Mexico, with scattered locations across the northern fourth of the states, from Washington to Maine. The species follows the Rio Grande through most of New Mexico, with also observations from Jeff Davis Co, Texas. Note that separation from Solidago multiradiata depends on close examination of the phyllaries. Also note that Semple et al. (2019) argue that the species of this name does not occur in Colorado or New Mexico, and that the correct name for the Rio Grande drainage species should be S. glutinosa.
