- For Senecio serra, there are five Watershed locations in the south San Juans, extending down to around Cumbres Pass; and two from the Rainbow trail north of Hayden Creek in the North Cristos. A number of these locations were next to roads, as if one dispersal means for the species is by vehicle (of course, collectors also gravitate to roads). Senecio serra is recorded from all Western states except for Arizona. The only New Mexico observations are from Rio Arriba Co. Those and the Watershed locations stand at the southeast corner of the USA distributions, and are the only ones in the entire Rio Grande drainage. Note that to distinguish S. serra from S. crassulus, one has to pay attention to the dentation and stem of leaves. Note that the Watershed plants belong to var. admirabilis.
