- In the Watershed, Bigelow's ragwort is a common meadow plant of the montane and subalpine, in all Watershed mountain ranges. It prefers more mesic habitats than do some ragworts, often found around rills, damp edges of aspens groves, and wet meadows. The one Basin collection comes from the Baca NWR (2006). The USA range of Senecio bigelovii is mainly Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through Nexico to the Mexican border counties but not into Texas. Note that variation in the leaves have generated a number of synonyms.
