- Recorded from all Watershed mountain ranges, Senecio amplectens is a common forest and meadow plant of the montane and subalpine (var. amplectens), and alpine (var. holmii). This is a Central and Southern Rockies ragwort, with some presence in the Intermountain region of Nevada and Utah. Of the Rio Grande drainage in New Mexico, Allred et al. (2020) show only Rio Arriba, Taos, Colfax, and Santa Fe counties, but BONAP adds Otero Co, which may be in the drainage. Note that some authorities raise var. holmii to species level (e.g., Weber and Wittmann; Hogan and Elliot, 2022)
