- In the Watershed, Picradeniopsis multiflora [previously assigned to the genus Schkuhria] is scattered, on both sides of the Valley. One interesting distributional pattern roughly follows Hwy 160: Blanca, Alamosa, Monte Vista (near where Brandegee collected the species in 1875), Del Norte, and South Fork (with photorecords for the last two). The Colorado locations mark the NE extent of the USA distribution of this predominantly Southwest species. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the Big Bend country of Texas. Note that the species has been newly assigned to the genus Picradeniopsis, leaving Schkuhria pinnata as the only USA member of Schkuhria—which distinctive Southwestern species has a single ray flower.
