- Comments
- Of goldenglow coneflower there are no records north of the Great Sand Dunes, on either side of the Valley. The plant needs a relatively wet habitat, which may explain why most of the Basin records come from the Lower Basin—and also why the USA distribution is disjunct, with concentrations in the East and in the Rockies, but not in the central Plains, Texas, California, Nevada, etc. Our species is Rudbeckia lacinata var. ampla. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the border with Mexico, but no farther down stream.
