- Comments
- Saffron ragwort has often been collected from mesic habitats in scree and on rocky inclines at higher elevations, in all mountain regions of the Watershed, east and west. The flower extends south in the Rio Grande drainage only to Taos County, New Mexico. Its USA distribution is the central mountains of Colorado, with scattered locations in Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. Note that taxonomists have not yet sorted out the distinction between Packera crocata and P. dimorphophylla. Also note that the petal color can indeed be saffron but quite often closer to yellow.
