- Of pineapple weed, the Watershed has only five records: along a road 5 miles W of San Luis (Costlla Co, 1986); by Park Creek Road (Forest Road 380) S of South Fork (Rio Grande Co, 2003); Wolf Creek pass (4 Sept 2015, Mineral Co); roadside SE of Luders Creek campground (Saguache Co, 2021); roadside at the top of North Cochetopa pass (2024). The last three, photorecord,s would add Mineral and Saguache to counties indicated in Ackerfield (2022). It is perhaps surprising that there have not been more observations of a flower that is common farther north in the central mountains of Colorado. It is also common in all states of the USA except for Texas, Florida, and the Deep South. Its presence in the Rio Grande drainage stops at Rio Arriba, Taos, and Sandoval counties of New Mexico.
