- In the Watershed Hymenoxys grandiflora has been much more collected than H. brandegeei. It is found much more often in the San Juans than the Cristos. It prefers subalpine and tundra exposed ridges and rock outcrops. It is a species of the Central and Southern Rockies, not extending south in the Rio Grande drainage farther than the northern counties of New Mexico.
