Nuttall's sunflower has not been frequently recorded from the Watershed, but locally it persists in wet places such as ditches, barrow pits, and mesic meadows. It was collected at the seep 12.7 miles W of Saguache on Hwy 114 (“Ball Arroyo”) in 1916, 1984 and 2019. In the USA its distribution is centered in the Rockies but extends in scattered pockets into the Great Plains and east to the Mississippi River. It followss the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the border with Mexico, but no farther.
