- There are collections of Erigeron pinnatisectus from all Watershed mountain regions, east and west, north and south. The plant seems to prefer open, rocky subalpine and tundra meadows. This is a species with a restricted USA range: high elevations in Colorado, southern Wyoming, and northern New Mexico, where the Rio Grande drainage hosts this fleabane only as far as the counties bordering Colorado: Rio Arriba, Taos, and Colfax.
