- Not too often collected from the Watershed, Erigeron lonchophyllus has been found in a variety of habitats, from basin shrubland (Baca NWR; Great Sand Dunes NPP) to montane meadows (near La Veta Pass) to edges of wooded streams (Minteral Co, Beaver Creek above Big Meadows Reservoir). It needs moist soil. The species is present in all USA states west of the Great Plains and in northern North Dakota and, uncommonly, around Lake Superior. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through Rio Arriba, Taos, and Sandoval counties of New Mexico, but no farther south.
