- Distinctive but variable, Parry's thistle is common around the Watershed at montane and subalpine elevations, usually found in forest openings. In the USA it is only found in the mountains of Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, where it follows the Rio Grande drainage almost to the border with Mexico.
