- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For Flodman's thistle there is only one record from the Watershed: Conejos Co, 2003, “ca 12 air mi NW of Capulin.” That would make the location an outlier in the USA distribution, the southernmost occurrence of a species that is primarily northern Rockies and Great Plains. Note that both Ackerfield (2022) and BONAP (2022) accept the record. Note also that key distinctions of C. flodmanii (wet habitat and weak, slender involucral spines) from C. tracyi and C. undulatum (dry habitat and stout involucral spines) are relative and hard to follow without specimens and habitat descriptions from the three species at hand.
