- In the Watershed Brickellia leptophylla [= B. eupatorioides] has been found, not often, on dry open slopes, sometimes by creeks or roads, for instance in the foothills W of Antonito (Conejos Co, 1956); in or near Del Norte (Rio Grande Co, 1930; 2024; near the Natural Arch (Saguache Co, 2001); northeast of Manassa (Conejos Co, 2023, iNaturalist observation #180426772). According to the distribution provided by Nesom (2022), the species has been recorded from all counties of the Watershed. It occurs in western Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and western and southern Texas; and follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to Zavala Co, TX, well past the Big Bend country Note the Watershed specimens key out to Brickellia eupatorioides in Heil et al. (2013), Ackerfield (2020), and Allred et al. (2020). In their keys, the Watershed specimens that I have studied in the field key out to B. eupatorioides var. chlorolepsis (all leaves one-nerved). The revision to B. leptophylla is based on Nesom (2022) and accepted by POWO. For more photos and commentary, click "yes" in the Annotation field below.
