- In Colorado strawstem beggarticks is a Front Range and Plains species, but there is at least one record from Mineral Co to the west of the Watershed (2006, Heil collector). The Shaw Lake photorecord occurrence—which needs to be confirmed—was growing in the drying shore of the lake, a typical habitat for Bidens tripartita. The photorecord is not definitive, but if substantiated would add Mineral to counties indicated in Ackerfield (2022). Bidens tripartita is primarily a New England, Appalachian, Midwest, and northern Plains beggarticks. But there are scattered records from all Western states except for Nevada and Arizona. Allred et al. (2020) show the species growing in New Mexico "in wetlands" from Rio Arriba Co down the Rio Grande drainage to Socorro Co.
