- Mountain sagwort is a subalpine and alpine Artemisia not often found in the Watershed: Saguache Co, Continental Divide above Cochetopa Creek (1999); Saguache Co, Elkhorn Peak (1999); Conejos Co, Spring Creek pass (1984); Rio Grande Co, Grayback pass [2021]. The last two of these locations of Artemisia norvegica (our plant is var. saxatilis) would add Conejos and Rio Grande to the counties indicated in Ackerfield (2022), where the species is treated as A. arctica. BONAP (2022) also shows Costilla Co. The Watershed marks the SE corner of the USA distribution, which is quite scattered—through the Rocky Mountains, the Cascades of Washington, and the Sierras of California.
