NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There is only one Watershed record for Artemisia mexicana, dated 1924 from "Costilla Co," “Chama basin,” with elevation given as 10,000'. The best interpretation of this is that the collector (Paul Lister) meant Archuleta Co, where the Chama drainage does reach 10,000'. Most authorities accept this plant as a subspecies of Artemisia ludoviciana. BONAP treats it as a separate species and shows its USA distribution as the Southwest, and central and southern Great Plains. BONAP also shows it it ranging down the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico to the Mexican border.
