- The herbaria have specimens of Artemisia longifolia from only four general Watershed locations: around San Luis (Costilla Co); in and near the town of Alamosa (Alamosa Co); three miles S of Antonito (Conejos Co); and from the Wason Ranch south of Creede (Mineral Co). The only other locations in Colorado border Wyoming. This usual habitat for the species is clayey or saline soils, for instance the Rio Grande floodplain in Alamosa (Alamosa Co, 1992) or the Alamosa National Wildlife Preserve [Alamosa Co, 2016]. The USA distribution centers on Wyoming, Montana, and west North Dakota and South Dakota.
