- Ragweed sagebrush has not been collected from the south Sawatch Range, the La Garitas, or the Culebras (but it is present in the Rio Grande Cristos of New Mexico). Elsewhere in the Watershed, it is common, preferring shaded and sometimes rocky montane terrain. Its USA distribution is confined to southern Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, where it follows the Rio Grande drainage nearly to the Mexican border (but no farther).
