- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed there are only three locations for Bigelow's sagebrush: one in the Upper Basin near Alder in Saguache Co; two from the Lower Basin in Conejos Co. Ackerfield shows Alamosa Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. This is a plant of dry alkaline flats and rocky slopes, and its USA distribution is the desert Southwest. It ranges down the Rio Grande drainage to the Mexican border and into Southwest Texas. Note that its size overlaps with Artemisia tridentata and it takes close field observation of stems and florets to distinguish the two.
