- Chamisso's arnica has not been often collected from the Watershed, and not at all from the east side of the Valley. There is one basin record, from “Dabney Meadows” in Alamosa Co, far out of the plant’s normal vegetative zone. It has been recorded from both sides of the Rio Grande drainage about halfway down New Mexico, which marks the southeast corner of its USA distribution. Note that determination is not easy in the field, since distinction from the common Arnica mollis requires microscopic view of the pappus.
