- Comments
- Of Antennaria neglecta there are four vouchers, all from the south San Juans: near La Manga pass (Conejos Co, 1985); Beaver Creek cpgd (Rio Grande Co, 1951); Trout Creek trailhead (Rio Grande Co, mislabeled Mineral Co, 2004); Trout Creek? (labeled "Turkey Creek jeep trail," Rio Grande Co, 2004). BONAP accepts these identifications, but Ackerfield (2022) shows only the Conejos Co location. A recent photorecord (July 2023) would support Conejos Co as a location for the species. The area would lie on the extreme southwest corner of the USA distribution, which is extensive for an Antennaria, including New England, the Great Lakes, much of the Great Plains, and the Rockies. Determination of the species requires notice of stolons. Note that FNA indicates that the polyploid complex of Antennaria howellii may include A. neglecta as a sexual progenitor. Ackerfield treats A. howellii under A. neglecta.
