- In the Watershed, Agoseris parviflora is not as often collected as A. glauca, and mostly from the west side of the Valley. The few records from the east side are located in the north Cristos (e.g., near Crestone, near the Gray-Back mines). There are, however, a few records from the Cristos of New Mexico. This agoseris is widely present in all USA states W of the Great Plains except for Washington. It follows the Rio Grande drainage in New Mexico down to Socorro Co. Note that distinguishing A. parviflora from A. glauca can be problematical at times. The two species overlap in elevation (although A. parviflora tends to grow lower), in habitat (although A. parviflora prefers more xeric conditions), in size (although A. parviflora tends to be smaller), and in leaf shape (although A. parviflora tends toward lobed and retorse leaves). The surest distinction is the length of the achene beak in relation to the rest of the achene (with A. parviflora having the shorter beak).
