- As in every state of the USA, in the Watershed Basin domestic asparagus often escapes. It is remarkably persistent, for instance thriving in ditches by abandoned and sometimes disappeared farm houses (it spreads by rhizomes as well as seeds). Plants have been recorded in the Rio Grande drainage down nearly to the Big Bend country of Texas.
