- According to recent genetic analysis, Oreoxis bakeri is the only Oreoxis in the Watershed—the old Oreoxis alpina being moved to Cymopterus (Sun and Downie, 2004). Oreoxis bakeri is strictly alpine, found often in both the San Juans and the Cristos. Its USA range is restricted to east Utah, south Colorado, and north New Mexico, where its presence in the Rio Grande drainage extends only to Santa Fe Co.
