- Cymopterus alpinus has been recorded from all the mountain regions of the Watershed (usually named "Oreoxis alpina"). Most often found in the tundra, Alpine parsley still can range down into the subalpine and even the montane. Note that the 1900 voucher record by Rydberg and Vreeland, “mountain near Veta Pass,” has pencilled in, “Huerfano/Costilla counties,” so may or may not have been in the Watershed. Its USA range is restricted mainly to the high mountains of Utah and Colorado and northern New Mexico. The farthest south in the Rio Grange drainage is Sandoval Co, New Mexico. Note that moleular analysis places this species in Cymopterus, leaving Oreoxis bakeri in Oreoxis (Sun and Downie, 2004).
