- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. The Watershed has only one record of poison suckleya, with two specimens from 1.6 miles SSE of Mogote, found on the edge of a drying pond (1987). More occurrences should be expected. Suckleya suckleyana is found in all the New Mexico counties bordering Colorado, including the Watershed counties of Rio Arriba, Taos, and Colfax (but it does not continue on down the Rio Grande drainage). It ranges through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and into Canada. Look for it at lower elevations in the bed of dried ponds and lakes, saline or not, but also in ditches and fallow fields.
