- In the Watershed there are six collections from two widely separated locations for Oxybasis rubra var. salina: Upper Basin drylands (1873-1991) and a south San Juan dude ranch near Wagon Wheel Gap (2014). The 1985 collection three miles from La Manga pass seems unlikely because of its high elevation. Note that the exotic form of this species, Oxybasis rubra var. humila, has not been found in the Watershed. The native form is wide spread in the Western states and northern Great Plains. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico to the border with Mexico but not farther down stream. For more photos and comments, click "yes" in the Annotation field below.
