- Of Chenopodium pratericola there are scattered records from around the Watershed, at mid elevations: in the Great Sand Dunes area; near Ft. Garland; south of Creede; near the town of Saguache; in the Baca NWR. The 2014 photorecord from Del Norte would add Rio Grande to counties indicated in Ackerfield and BONAP. This is an enterprising goosefoot, native to the Western states and now adventive in all Eastern states except for Tennessee and Florida. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico and Texas to the Gulf of Mexico. Note that some experts treat the species as C. desiccatum (e.g., Allred et al. 2020).
