- Of Chenopodium pratericola there are scattered records from around the Watershed, at mid elevations: in the Great Sand Dunes area; near Ft. Garland; south of Creede; near the town of Saguache; in the Baca NWR. The 2019 photorecord from east of Del Norte (Limekiln Peak) would add Rio Grande to counties indicated in Ackerfield and BONAP. This is an enterprising goosefoot, native to the Western states and now adventive in all Eastern states except for Tennessee and Florida. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico and Texas to the Gulf of Mexico. It takes a combination of characters to identify this Watershed goosefoot: leaves thre-veined, leaves three to five times longr than wide, sepals exposing seed at maturity, glomerules densely packed in the upper third of the plant.
