- This distinctive and common saltbush occupies dry Basin and foothill terrain around the Valley. It grows within the town limits of Del Norte, and probably could be found in other towns such as Monte Vista, Saguache, San Luis, etc. In the USA it is wide spread in the West, including the western Great Plains but excluding the Pacific Northwest and northern California. It follows Rio Grande drainage nearly to the Gulf of Mexico.
