- Of spreading pigweed there are 9 herbarium records, from locations spread around the Watershed. The plant is probably more common within Valley town limits than these collections indicate. It is a common occurrence beside the gravel streets of Del Norte, for instance. It is recorded from every USA state except Mississippi and North Carolina, and follows the Rio Grande drainage all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
