- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For blue elderberry the Watershed shows few records: East Willow Creek NW of Creede, Mineral Co (2004); South Fork of Rock Creek, Rio Grande Co (2004); Continental Divide trail off FSR 118.1C in Conejos Co (2004). BONAP also show Costilla Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. Sambucus nigra has Rio Grande drainage locations in New Mexico down to the border with Mexico, and in Texas around the Big Bend area and at the Gulf. The species has been recorded from every state in the USA. Note that Allred et al. (2020) say the name Sambucus mexicana has precedence over Sambucus cerulea [or caerulea].
