- Limber pine is common but scattered, from the lower montane to the subalpine on both the east and west of the Watershed. Vouchers are not found from the Watershed Cristos south of La Veta Pass, but the tree is surely there, judging from New Mexico records. Pinus flexilis occurs in all mountain ranges west of the Great Plains except for the coastal ranges in California, Oregon, and Washington. It follows the Rio Grande drainage to the Mexican border with New Mexico, but no farther down stream.
